Red Feather

LUBBOCK, TEXAS • 2021

“The course's green complexes are extraordinary, offering challenges that appeal to players of all skill levels. I'm proud to be a member at Red Feather and I always look forward to coming back.
Will Andersen

Owner & Developer of Landmand Golf Club

King-Collins was hired in 2021 by native Texan and Lubbock resident, Brad Ralston, to design and build a new private club in rapidly expanding South Lubbock.

Built on a 135 acre  flat parcel, which was partially occupied by a playa lake (a historic drainage area), our creation is equal measures art and engineering.  Due to the importance of playa lakes to the surrounding watershed, it was mandated by local regulations that Red Feather be able to store enough water to accommodate a 500 year flood event on the golf course.  In order to achieve this lofty goal on a tight parcel, our team excavated multiple drainage canals, barrancas, and one very large, central cavern, which is over eighty (80) feet deep.  Our golf course weaves around, over, and across these dramatic features, mimicking the style of a ruggedly beautiful west Texas landscape. With ground hugging greens and tightly mown turf throughout, there are many ways to play each hole.  The course boasts eighteen widely varying, strategic holes and contains the longest and shortest holes in the State of Texas. With a gambling, match play ready finishing stretch, our team takes great pride in knowing that the members of Red Feather will make countless memories on these grounds.
