Signal Mountain
SIGNAL MOUNTAIN, TENNESSEE . 2016
In 2013 we were selected by Signal Mountain Golf & Country Club to renovate their third and seventeenth holes. I first played golf on the course as a child and have since completed countless rounds there. As a result, I am very fond of the layout and believe that it is a unique and special course with tremendous potential.
Pat Rose, the golf superintendent, deserves all of the credit for making the proposed renovation a reality. Pat first contacted us to consult on the bunkers at the course, which are a maintenance nightmare due to poor construction techniques. Washouts are overly commonplace and drainage is inadequate or non-existent in all of the bunkers. Pat was able to fund the entire project under his existing budget, and Tad and I were pleased to work with him to limit cost, while still working to deliver elite quality and artistry in the finished product.
In 2016, we were asked to create a master plan for the golf course, which addresses playability, maintenance, and operations. Please review the attached booklet, which includes explanatory notes for each golf hole.
In 2019, the Club hired us to rebuild their practice area. In addition to constructing a dynamic chipping green with multiple bunkers, we doubled the size of their driving range tee. Working on a small budget, Tad & I built the features with tremendous assistance from Pat Rose and his talented crew.
